Paul joined the firm in June 2009 as Tax Partner and has extensive experienced gained in working both in practice and in industry. He commenced his career with KPMG and worked as a Group Tax Manager for a PLC before returning to practice a number of years ago. He is responsible for tax consultancy and tax compliance for a wide portfolio of corporate and personal clients. He advises on several one-off transactions such as international taxation issues and group restructurings. He also specializes in wealth and estate planning and the tax efficient movement of assets between family members.

Areas of Expertise
  • Group restructuring and tax relief planning for passing family businesses to next generation or to allow the efficient sale of part of a company.
  • International tax planning including the repatriation of funds, withholding tax issues and deductibility issues.
  • Advice in relation to a number of revenue audits and investigations.
  • Capital acquisitions tax, capital gains tax and stamp duty planning and advice regarding the availability of various reliefs to pass business and assets to next generation.
  • VAT advice and planning relating to property and commercial transactions.
  • Managing corporation tax and income tax compliance deadlines.
  • Advising on tax efficient extraction of cash from corporate structures including advice regarding the relevant anti-avoidance legislation.

Qualifications
  • Associate of the Irish Taxation Institute.
  • Associate of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Ireland.
  • Professional Diploma in Accounting – Dublin City University.
  • Bachelor of Business Studies – Trinity College Dublin.
  • Lectures for the Institute of Chartered Accountants and Certified Public Accountants on taxation matters.
  • Representative for the Institute of Chartered Accountants on TALC Audit.
